Chender closes out campaign, commits to affordable homes and primary care for Nova Scotians
HALIFAX — On Monday morning, at the last NDP announcement of the provincial election campaign, Claudia Chender committed to affordable homes and primary care for Nova Scotians.
Throughout the campaign Chender has put forward her party’s plan to protect renters, put more Nova Scotians on a path to homeownership and build 15 new primary care clinics in the first year of an NDP government.
“While Tim Houston spends hundreds of millions of dollars on band-aid solutions, apps and backroom deals with his well-connected friends, Nova Scotians aren’t seeing the results. People need solutions now, they just need a government with the political will to act,” said Chender. “New Democrats know that a doctor in your community and an affordable home are the very least Nova Scotians should expect from their government.”
Under Tim Houston’s PC government more than145,000 people are on the waitlist for primary care and the average one-bedroom apartment costs two-thousand dollars.
“After eight years of Liberal neglect and another four of broken PC promises, New Democrats will deliver a home you can afford and a doctor in your community. We’ll establish real rent control, slash allowable rent increases in half, and give more than half the households in the province an affordable housing rebate of $900 to help you cover the cost of rent or your mortgage. We’ll put more Nova Scotians on the path to homeownership by building hundreds of rent-to-own starter homes and get 30,000 new truly affordable homes on the market.”
“Tomorrow, you have a chance to vote for the kind of province you want for your family. You can choose to elect a government who puts you first.”
