Tariffs response plan needed following steel, aluminum announcement: Chender
HALIFAX — The following is a statement from Nova Scotia NDP leader Claudia Chender:
“The March 12 tariffs on steel and aluminum announced by Donald Trump come only a week after the promised 30-day pause on the President’s tariff threat.
Local jobs and industry across Canada and here in Nova Scotia are not only being threatened but are already losing contracts and soon, workers. Workers, business owners, and families across our province are going to feel the impact.
It’s clearer than ever that we have to stand together and be prepared to respond to this economic attack.
Our call to bring leaders across the province together to form a Nova Scotia task force to determine a made-in Nova Scotia response as part of Team Canada is more important than ever. We can’t afford to wait.”
