Statement from NDP Leader Gary Burrill on today's federal budget

HALIFAX – NDP Leader Gary Burrill made the following statement on today’s federal budget:

“The NDP is committed to the idea of universal pharmacare and so we are encouraged to see mention of it in this budget. However, without dedicated funding, people who need coverage now will remain stuck in limbo.

The commitment of the federal government to conduct gender-based analysis of the budget is a positive step and I would encourage the McNeil Liberals to adopt this process for their budget.

And while the focus on providing opportunities for more women to enter the workforce is admirable, it should have included plans for universal childcare in order to be meaningful.”
