Statement by Lenore Zann about mental health support for Eskasoni

NDP Aboriginal Affairs Spokesperson Lenore Zann made the following statement in connection with recent news from Eskasoni First Nation:

“I’m saddened and dismayed at the tragic news coming out of Eskasoni. The mental health crisis in our province is affecting many people and our First Nation communities are being hit especially hard.

The need for resources and mental health care infrastructure in Nova Scotia is dire. We need to address this problem before more families have to face another tragedy. I offer my fullest and deepest sympathies and support to the community of Eskasoni in this very difficult time.”
