Yarmouth, NS – Newly elected Nova Scotia NDP Leader Gary Burrill brings his message against income inequality and for social, environmental and economic justice to South West Nova Scotia this week.

Burrill will speak at 10 am on Tuesday morning at the CUPE Nova Scotia Convention at the Rodd Yarmouth.  In the afternoon, he will meet with representatives of the Tri County Women’s Centre to discuss women’s issues in the region.

In the evening he will be the guest speaker at a public event organized by the Yarmouth NDP Association, 7 pm at the Brooklyn Community Hall, 200 Brooklyn Road.  The event is open to the public and refreshments will be served.

“There is something fundamentally wrong with our economy when the top 1% of income earners in Atlantic Canada make $259,300 a year while the bottom 90% of people make only $26,700 per year,” says Burrill.  “The NDP will make addressing income inequality a major priority.  It will be our goal to make Nova Scotia the first jurisdiction in North America to eliminate poverty.”

Gary will also sit down for interviews with South Coast Today in Shelburne, the Tri County Vanguard in Yarmouth, and CJLS Radio also in Yarmouth.
