NDP will present solutions to health care crisis during fall sitting

HALIFAX -- In advance of the re-opening of the legislature on September 6, the NDP is working on legislation to help address the continuing crisis of health care in Nova Scotia.

“We can’t just sit back and wait for this problem to get worse, the government and all MLAs need to come to the House with solutions for the crisis,” said NDP Leader Gary Burrill. “There are real issues in our hospitals and doctors’ offices that the Liberal government must effectively address.”

The NDP will put forward legislation on key elements of the health care system, including accountability and transparency, long-term care and primary care services.

“The message coming from patients, health care providers, municipal leaders, and others is that our health care system is in crisis and this Liberal government is failing to take the action that’s necessary,” said Burrill. “We are committed to meeting with communities and bringing their concerns and their solutions to the table in the House.”

The previous sitting of the legislature ended April 18.
