MLA Susan Leblanc extends donation drive for residents affected by Dartmouth fires

DARTMOUTH – Susan Leblanc, NDP MLA for Dartmouth North is extending the deadline to accept donations for residents of 81 Primrose St. and 23 Brule St, who were affected by fires two weeks ago. The deadline was Friday June 1 and is now Tuesday June 5 at 4:30 pm.

“We’ve collected a number of donations so far and are grateful for the response from the community,” said Leblanc. “A number of organizations, including a few churches, wanted more time to get the word out to their members so we’re extending the donation drive for a few days.”

Donations of money or Walmart gift cards can be dropped off at Leblanc’s constituency office. Any money donated will be used to purchase gift cards for affected residents.

“It’s been two weeks since the fire and while support for residents has been great, there are still many people who need help and donations to purchase items they need while they are out of their homes.”

Leblanc is working with the Farrell Benevolent Society which will distribute the gift cards to those in need. Donations can be dropped off at 260 Wyse Rd, Suite 102 in Dartmouth.
