Liberals' plan to pay American border guards an insult to Nova Scotia workers

HALIFAX-- NDP Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal Spokesperson Susan Leblanc made the following statement about the possibility of Nova Scotians paying US Border Guards:

“Considering the Liberal government’s lack of investment in crucial services like health care and education, and the unpredictable state of the American government, it is shocking to think that Minister Hines thinks it is reasonable for Nova Scotians to pay the salaries of American civil servants.

There are investments that could be made in our province that would improve daily life for Nova Scotians. The McNeil Liberals need to be upfront about the state of the Yarmouth ferry and how much money they are willing to send to the United States government.”

Yesterday, the Nova Scotia Federation of Labour released an open letter to Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Lloyd Hines calling on him to clarify the government’s position.
