Job Opportunity: Policy and Communications Intern

The Nova Scotia NDP Caucus seeks a motivated person based in Halifax to fulfill the position of Policy and Communications Intern on a full-time basis for a three-month period this summer.

Description

The Policy and Communications Intern will assist with various elements of the work of the Nova Scotia NDP Caucus. Subject to the interests and experience of the successful candidate, this work may include assisting with on-going research projects, attending meetings or events with Caucus members or on behalf of the Caucus, assisting with the development and implementation of Caucus public outreach campaigns, writing content for various purposes, basic office duties, and other duties that may arise.

This position would be appropriate for a student or recent graduate looking to gain experience in any of the following areas: public administration, policy research and development, public relations, public outreach, social media management, communications, marketing, social work, and political science

Desired Qualifications

The Policy and Communications Intern will possess the following qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the New Democratic Party, its policies and structure.
  • Knowledge of government processes and current issues.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Experience in not-for-profit or membership-based organizations or the public sector considered an asset.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.

Compensation: $18.50 per hour, 35 hours per week

Term: 3 months term, start sate flexible
