Gary Burrill puts the needs of people at the center of leaders' debate
NDP will invest in hospitals, schools, communities
HALIFAX - NDP Leader Gary Burrill put the needs of people at the center of the CBC leaders’ debate by talking about the need to hire more family doctors, keep emergency rooms open, treat our seniors with dignity and give young people more opportunities to succeed here at home.
Burrill asked Stephen McNeil if he thought there was a crisis in health care and Mr. McNeil answered, “No.”
Stephen McNeil needs to explain to the 106,000 people without a family doctor, the seniors in nursing homes who don’t get adequate diet and programming, the people who wait in emergency rooms for hours on end, or worse people who show up to their emergency room only to find them closed how that is not a crisis.
Gary Burrill and the NDP can recognize a crisis when they see it. Burrill shared his plan to invest $120 million to hire new doctors, nurse practitioners and open primary care clinics, keep emergency rooms open and make sure seniors get the care they need.
Stephen McNeil spent the 90 minutes running away from his record on health care and keeps telling people what they can’t do. In contrast, Gary Burrill showed he is the only one listening to the people struggling under by the McNeil Liberals and that only the NDP will make the necessary investments to make life better for people.
