Chender to meet with Cape Breton community leaders, residents ahead of spring sitting
SYDNEY —NSNDP Leader Claudia Chender is in Cape Breton today and tomorrow, where she’ll meet with community leaders and residents to discuss their priorities ahead of the spring sitting of the legislature.
“I'm looking forward to speaking with Cape Bretoners about what they expect from this government when we return to the House of Assembly next month,” said Chender. “We know that health care, housing, and the cost of living are some of the biggest issues facing Cape Bretoners right now. New Democrats are committed to fighting for communities across the province.”
Chender’s trip will include a tour of the new NSCC Waterfront Campus, a meeting with the Cape Breton Partnership, and events to mark the beginning of African Heritage Month.
Among other priorities, Chender will discuss ways to bolster Cape Breton’s economy and the uncertainty posed by the potential U.S. tariffs.
“There are so many exciting things happening in Cape Breton right now. My NSNDP colleagues and I are eager to support the Island and ensure Cape Bretoners are set up for success by harnessing its strong tourism, fishing, forestry, hospitality and technology sectors,” said Chender. “Additionally, the Houston government can and should provide cost-of-living relief to Cape Bretoners and all Nova Scotians by removing the HST from essentials like groceries and investing in homes people can truly afford.”
