Chender: Economic task force needed for recovery from COVID-19

HALIFAX --NDP Finance spokesperson Claudia Chender made the following statement in response to today’s release of the 2019/2020 Public Accounts:

“Today’s report confirms the enormous impact COVID-19 has had on all sectors of our province and our economy. This continues into the current fiscal year.

We know that the economic impact of COVID-19 will be with us for years to come. We also know that this devastating situation may offer us the opportunity to do things differently, to rebuild our economy in a way that is more robust, more resilient, and more equitable.

That is why the NDP continues to call for the creation of an economic recovery task force. This would be a group of experts from sectors across the province that could come together and come up with innovative ways to invest in our economic recovery.

This is not your typical economic downturn. Our response cannot be typical either.”
