Statement from Tammy Martin on ambulance availability
HALIFAX -- NDP Health and Wellness Spokesperson Tammy Martin made the following statement today in response to data released by the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 727, which represents paramedics in Nova Scotia:
“Paramedics have been highlighting the crisis in emergency care for months now with their “code critical” reports on ambulance availability. Regularly, we’re getting reports of no available ambulances in Cape Breton, but the data released today shows that communities across our province are often running short when it comes to ambulance coverage.
How can the Liberals claim emergency health care is available, when most regions of our province are facing closed emergency rooms, and out of service or half-staffed ambulances?”
