Statement by NDP Leader Gary Burrill on Doctors Nova Scotia lawsuit

Breakdown of relationship result of government's failure to address crisis

HALIFAX –NDP Leader Gary Burrill made the following statement on Doctors Nova Scotia launching a lawsuit against the province of Nova Scotia:

“Last week, we learned that there are fewer family doctors in Nova Scotia today than when Stephen McNeil took office, despite the Liberals’ 2013 promise to provide a doctor for every resident of Nova Scotia.

Now, as doctors turn to the courts to resolve their concerns with the Liberal government, it is even more clear that the relationship between the province’s doctors and the government has broken down.

How much more evidence do we need that our health care system is in crisis before the Premier and the Minister of Health will acknowledge that this is the case?”
