Provincial budget should invest in people

HALIFAX -- At a time when many Nova Scotians are in deep need, the 2018 provincial budget should focus on the most pressing matters at hand: health care, education, and addressing income inequality.

Nova Scotia has Canada's highest child poverty rate in Canada, as well as the fastest rising university tuition rates in the country. One-hundred thousand individuals are without family doctors, and the Liberals have taken no action to address the shortage of nursing-home beds.

"People ought to be able to eat, have opportunities, and expect they're going to be looked after when the time comes to be looked after," said NDP leader Gary Burrill.
