FACT CHECK: When Baillie has no plan, he attacks instead

No real solutions from PCs

When Jaimie Baillie and the PCs realize they have no plan, they attack instead without offering any real solution. Once again, Baillie’s plan for rural Nova Scotia is more of the same and won’t do anything to solve the problems being faced by rural Nova Scotians. The reality is, the NDP is the only party with commitments dedicated to the economic development of rural Nova Scotia, including:

  • Reopening the Department of Rural and Economic Development closed by the McNeil Liberals
  • An action-oriented Task Force on the Local Economy
  • $120 million to recruit and retain doctors, nurses and health care professionals
  • Support for hub schools in rural communities and a moratorium on school closures
  • Major investments in public infrastructure including hospitals and schools
  • Core funding for transit in smaller centres
  • A film tax credit with the rural incentives that brought hundreds of jobs to rural NS
  • A marketing board for small farms to help producers get their goods to market
  • A program to help municipalities improve local access to high speed internet

Baillie and the PCs know they have no new ideas to offer rural Nova Scotians, so they’re throwing mud instead and hoping it will stick. Unlike the PCs, the NDP’s platform takes steps toward making rural Nova Scotia an even better place to live, work and do business.
