Burrill to challenge McNeil on Pictou County issues in Legislature

Doctor shortage, clearcutting among main concerns

PICTOU –NDP Leader Gary Burrill will visit Pictou County on Saturday as the NDP Caucus prepares to return to the Legislature on September 21.

“When the Legislature opens, the NDP will hold Stephen McNeil and the Liberals accountable for their lack of action on the doctors’ shortage,” said Burrill. “When over 100,000 people don’t have a family doctor, you know something is seriously wrong with our government’s priorities.”

Burrill will be the guest speaker at a Corn Boil organized by the Pictou West NDP Association. The event will take place from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at 2576 Hwy 376, Lyons Brook.

Burrill plans to talk with people about their priorities for when the Legislature opens and the budget is introduced.

“We’re hearing from people in Pictou County about the massive increases in clear-cutting in our forests. We’re hearing about concerns around the government's hasty pre-primary roll-out. You can count on the NDP to be raising these issues in the Legislature,” said Burrill.
